Wolfmother is another homegrown Australian rock band coming out of Sydney, New South Wales. Originally formed way back in 2000, composed of vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, Chris Ross on the bass and keyboard, as well as Myles Heskett on drums. Needless to say, the band has been making significant headway since then.
Of course, there have been a number of changes to the band’s lineup. It is now made up of Ian Peres playing bass guitar and drummer Hamish Rosser along with original vocalist Andrew Stockdale. With the release of their self-titled debut album Wolfmother, which sold 1.5 million copies worldwide, the band has become a force to be reckoned with. The debut album reached the third spot on the Australian Albums Chart and broke into the coveted top 40 spot in both the US and the UK.
Upon listening to their songs, one can easily ascertain the bands which Wolfmother draws inspiration from, from Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath and AC/DC. If you like the type of rock that will wake you up and have you jumping up and down, then you should really give this band a try.
