King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is the Australian psychedelic rock band that has been making waves both locally and overseas. Initially formed in Melbourne, Victoria way back in 2010, the band has consistently marked itself as one of the leading bands in today’s rock scene.
The band is comprised of lead vocalist and resident flutist Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny Smith on synthesizers and the harmonica, Cook Craig and Joey Walker on guitars and vocals, Lucas Skinner playing the bass, and the duo of Eric Moore and Michael Cavanagh on the drums.
The band has made for itself a discography that is both prolific and lasting. They have established a solid reputation as one of the hardest working bands out there today, releasing no less than ten full-length studio albums since 2012. As we explored their long list of work, we were able to notice the steady growth and evolution of the band’s sound going from an eclectic mix of garage rock, surf music, and psychedelic rock towards a unique sound that also blends elements of jazz, folk, soul, progressive rock, and even heavy metal.
Without a doubt, you would be doing yourself a great disservice by not listening to this band.
